UNDERDOG: THE OTHER OTHER BRONTE
by Sarah Gordon
directed by Judith Boyd
Charlotte Brontë has a confession about how one sister became an idol, and the other became known as the third sister. You know the one. No, not that one. The other, other one… Anne.
This is not a story about well-behaved women. This is a story about the power of words. It’s about sisters and sisterhood, love and jealousy, support and competition.
Sarah Gordon’s new play is an irreverent retelling of the life and legend of the Brontë sisters, and the story of the sibling power dynamics that shaped their uneven rise to fame.

“Enjoyably comic.” – The Arts Desk
“It uncovers the flesh and blood females behind the Brontë myth while interrogating entrenched patriarchy in a broad satire punctuated with amusing anachronistic dialogue. ” –

MOTHER OF THE MAID by Jane Anderson.
Directed by Glenda Campi
"Isabelle d'Arc is a God-fearing woman," she says of herself. "She can neither read nor write and her skirts smell ripe as a cheese. But she can do all sorts of handy things such as gutting a lamb, lancing a boil and hiding the family valuables during a raid."
And her daughter Jeanne, how can a young girl from a small village become the powerful military leader, a symbol of hope, and a beloved saint?
Jeanne d’ Arc changed the course of French history with her strong faith and courage.
This riveting play is an epic tale told through an unexpected and remarkable perspective.

Birthday Celebrations
Let’s take a quick trip back to where it all began.
On
6 December 1945, a meeting was called by the
Nambour Men’s Concert Party in the council boardroom. From that meeting, a committee was formed, and by
29 January 1946, plans were underway for two one-act plays and a revue, staged on
June 19th and 20th.
Through every change, one thing has remained constant: our heart for theatre and community.
Challenges & Triumphs
Eighty years is an extraordinary achievement for any volunteer organisation. We’ve weathered fires, relocations, and countless challenges. For instance, when our Blackall Terrace theatre was destroyed, and later when Council requested our land for the Nambour Shopping Centre, we adapted and moved here although at the time it seemed so far away from the hub of town..
